Art & Inspiration for Kiddos

This January we are celebrating art - in all of its forms, as inspiration, as a tool for healing, and as an essential need for children’s development. Now more than ever we are leaning into the power of art and creativity to keep our little ones happy, learning, and let’s be honest occupied while logging more hours at home.

We’ve put together a list of our favorite art supplies and activities to refresh your at-home art experience!

Great art projects start with great supplies...check out some of our tried-and-true favorites below.

If you're like us then you have long been in love with Studio Diy - the endlessly fun and inspiring blog that is jam-packed with color, creativity, and amazing crafts and content to make life a party. We are beyond smitten with their new arts and crafts closet reveal. Even better, they go through literally every art supply you could ever need! Enter all the heart eyes...

Art Classes & Education

Want to enlist the experts? We were incredibly excited to discover The School That Lars Built's online course, "Great Artists!" With 6 weeks of interactive lessons, video tutorials, crafts, and art education - it offers an amazing art curriculum for all ages.

In search of art for younger children? Look no further than Lots of Lovely Art Box Subscriptions - which are perfect for your budding artist age 18 months to 12 years. Just think, all the creative projects and supplies you need shipped straight to your door! Genius.

Ready to hit the books? We love this adorable and informative book about color - Pomelo Explores Color by Ramona Badescu.

Our Favorite Activities

Raised Salt Painting: We simply adore The Artful Parent, a mecca of arts and crafts ideas and inspiration. They even boast 500+ Kids Arts and Crafts Activities - which is surely enough to help us all survive this year! Our favorite so far is the Raised Salt Painting, with its simple supplies and colorful outcome made for kids of all ages.

Coffee Filter Sun Catchers: Parents magazine put together a list of 11 Easy Craft Ideas for Kids to Make With Stuff You Have at Home and we are pumped about it. These sun catchers were some of our faves, as they are easy peasy to put together and turn any ordinary window into a colorful and joyful corner of the house.

Keeping it Clean

(and by clean we mean easy to clean!)

We couldn't speak more highly of these Gathre mats, which are not only so beautiful and aesthetically pleasing (thank goodness!) but are a savior when it comes to protecting your home from all the splatters and rogue markers that come with arts and crafts time. We love their mini size for everyday, but they offer tons of sizes and prints to choose from.

Machine Washable & Dryable Must-Haves

(Perfect for art class!)

Flex Pant - Red Flannel Piped T-Shirt - Blue Faux Pant - Mustard Cord

Need a little art inspiration yourself? We GET IT... life is busy and a bit wild raising little humans and we personally cherish the opportunity to appreciate art (albeit briefly in our spare moments).
